This position will serve as a Procurement Technician, responsible for the position is to provide procurement administrative support for a team of contracting specialists responsible for planning, preparation and execution of contract documents.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
Supporting a team of Contracting Specialists with preparation, and processing of contract documents. Developing methods of automating reports using a variety of software packages and applying judgment in selecting the most appropriate software type. Preparing varied documents such as brochures, flyers, special reports, briefings, etc., using desktop publishing which involve integrating and laying out text and graphics on a page. Creating, copying, editing, calculating, revising, storing and printing a wide range of documents in final form from handwritten drafts such as correspondence, mailing labels, reports, graphs, indices, statistics, calendar, table of contents, etc., involving highly technical and specialized terminology. Receiving visitors, telephone calls and ascertaining the business of callers. Maintaining contract files, classifying and cross-referencing material in one or a few technical or professional fields. Transcribing various correspondence from handwritten or typed drafts into proper format with responsibility for correct spelling, grammar, capitalization and punctuation. Assists contract specialists with pre-award surveys and bid openings. Purchasing of supplies, services and equipment through the use of Simplified Acquisition Procedures, including the Purchase Card. Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include:
Establishes and maintains invoice files. Verifies invoice with obligated payment amount according to terms of the contract for completed task orders, delivery orders, job orders, or work orders. Inputs receiving reports on delivery orders for partial and final deliveries into the appropriate system. Develop methods for automating reports using a variety of software packages and applying judgment in selecting the most appropriate software type; and/or modifies the existing tracking system to correct problems, or establishes a database management system to improve tracking methods. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
