Director of Quality and Performance Improvement

Job Description

Primary Function


Develop, implement, manage and evaluate a hospital-wide performance improvement and patient safety program. Direct operations of the Quality Improvement Department.


Responsibilities



  • Develop recommendations for Hospital-wide quality improvement and patient safety priorities for the Board of Trustees' Quality Council and Hospital leaders in collaboration with key staff.

  • In collaboration with key staff, develop and implement mechanisms to operationalize Hospital-Wide quality improvement and patient safety priorities and goals.

  • Collaboration with key staff to develop and implement mechanisms that facilitate the Hospital leaders' assessment of the quality and safety of care and service provided by the Hospital.

  • Advise hospital leaders re: emerging issues and requirements concerning performance improvement and patient safety.

  • Collaborate with keys staff to ensure hospital compliance with state and national regulatory and accreditation requirements.

  • Manage processes supporting public reporting of clinical outcome and patient satisfaction data.

  • Manage quality improvement and peer review processes for Medical Staff

  • departments and Committees, including data gathering, analysis and reporting.

  • Provide staff support to the Improving Organizational Performance Committee and the Board of Trustees' Quality Council.

  • Investigate actual and potential adverse events utilizing root cause analysis and failure modes and effects analysis techniques.

  • Provide internal consulting services to all hospital departments re: quality improvement and patient safety tools and techniques. Assist department managers in developing and implementing performance improvement and patient safety plans that support Hospital-wide priorities and goals.

  • Facilitate interdisciplinary quality improvement and patient safety teams and projects.

  • Participate as an active member on Hospital committees and task forces.

  • Represent the Hospital on external committees and task forces concerned with quality improvement and patient safety topics and issues.

  • Develop and implement staff education offerings re: quality improvement and patient safety tools and techniques.

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned


Job Qualifications and Specifications



  • A Bachelor's degree in Nursing, required. Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of three year's experience in health care quality, preferably in an acute care setting required.

  • CPHQ certification or willingness to obtain certification when eligible required.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, project management and presentation skills required.

  • Computer proficiency, especially in MS Office software products, required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
